Practical information about our ski and snowboard lessons

Participants

From 1 student for private lessons. Maximum of 8 people per group class for optimal guidance.

Equipment

On the day of your lesson, make sure you have equipment suited to your activity and skill level. Bring your skis or snowboard, boots, and poles (for skiing), as well as a helmet—which is highly recommended and mandatory for certain lessons. Also, remember to wear warm clothing, gloves, and goggles or a visor so you can fully enjoy your session in the best possible conditions.

Age

We accept children of any age, provided they want to ski! This is often around the age of 3. For snowboarding, the age is usually closer to 6.

Duration

Group lessons: 2.5 hours per day/lesson.

Morning: 09:00 AM – 11:30 AM Midday (February holidays): 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM Afternoon: Christmas: 2:00 PM – 4:30 PM; February: 2:15 PM – 4:45 PM

Languages

Lessons can be conducted in French, English, or Italian, depending on instructor availability. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any special requests.

1. Activities

2. Days & Hours

Group classes are held throughout the week,

with morning, afternoon, or midday slots available depending on the season. Check our schedule to choose the day and time that suit you best.
3. Booking

4. Show up on the big day
On the day of your lesson, please arrive at the ESi Génération meeting point in Serre Chevalier a few minutes before the scheduled time. Your instructor will meet you there to start the activities and ensure the session runs smoothly. Remember to check your equipment so you can make the most of your experience right from the start.
5. Warm-up and preparation
A few minutes are dedicated to warming up, safety instructions, and checking equipment. This time helps activate muscles, improve mobility, and reduce the risk of injury, while also fostering better progress on the slopes. It is an essential step for making the most of your lesson safely.
6. Live the experience
Make the most of the experience. With their expert knowledge of the resort, our instructors guide you along the best routes, ensuring an authentic and personalized experience. Combining shared moments, skill development, and the pure joy of skiing, every instant becomes a true immersion in the mountain world.

How to get to Serre Chevalier?

Find practical information here to plan your trip to the resort. Whether you are traveling by train, car, or plane, there are various options available to help you reach your destination easily. Check the detailed answers to best prepare for your journey.

Getting to Serre Chevalier by car:

There are three main routes available depending on where you are coming from:

From the North and Lyon: Take the motorway to Grenoble, then the D1091 via the Col du Lautaret pass. (Alternative route if the pass is closed: A43 motorway, Fréjus Tunnel, then Col de Montgenèvre pass).

From the South (Marseille): Follow the A51 motorway to La Saulce, then take the N94 towards Gap and Briançon.

From the East and Italy: Reach the resort via the Italian motorway to Oulx, then cross the Col de Montgenèvre pass. ⚠️ Mountain Law: Winter tires, snow chains, or snow socks are mandatory from November 1st to March 31st.

To get to Serre Chevalier by train:

You need to travel to one of the two nearby main train stations and then complete the journey by bus. The resort itself does not have a train station.

Via Briançon station (France): Located at the foot of the slopes (6 km away). It is ideal for travelers arriving on the direct overnight Intercités train from Paris or via regional trains (TER) from Marseille and Valence. Regular shuttle services connect the station to the resort’s various villages.

Via Oulx TGV station (Italy): Located 45 minutes from the resort. This is the fastest option from Paris, using the direct TGV service (journey time of approximately 4 hours 45 minutes). Regional buses (Line ZOU 76) meet passengers upon the arrival of each train (online booking required).

Getting to Serre Chevalier by plane:

You will need to fly into one of the region’s airports and then book a transfer by bus, taxi, or rental car:

Turin Airport (Italy): The closest option, located about 1 hour and 30 minutes from the resort. During the winter season, direct Linkbus shuttles run regularly to the foot of the slopes.

Grenoble Airport (France): Located approximately 2 hours away. Regular bus connections run to Grenoble train station, where you can then take the regional ZOU 55 bus line to the resort.

Lyon St-Exupéry or Marseille Airports: Located about 2.5 to 3 hours away by road. These are ideal choices for a wide range of domestic and international flights, with the option to rent a vehicle on-site.

THE RESORT

Serre Chevalier

One of Europe’s largest ski areas, located in the Hautes-Alpes at the gateway to Écrins National Park. The resort spans 250 kilometers of slopes, linking the fortified town of Briançon to three authentic villages: Chantemerle, Villeneuve, and Le Monêtier-les-Bains.

Varied skiing amidst magical scenery

Renowned for its exceptional sunshine—300 days a year—the resort offers diverse skiing, ranging from high-altitude peaks to runs through larch forests. Beyond alpine skiing, Serre Chevalier is famous for the Grands Bains du Monêtier (natural hot springs) and its wide range of non-skiing activities.

The Serre Chevalier ski area spans 3,900 hectares in the heart of the Hautes-Alpes and offers 250 kilometers of slopes, making it one of the largest interconnected networks in France. Here are the key highlights of the ski area:

Skiing for all levels

The resort features 81 slopes catering to every ability level. The breakdown includes 13 green slopes for beginners, 26 blue slopes for progressing skiers, and 29 red and 13 black slopes for advanced skiers.

Altitude ensuring good snow conditions

The slopes range from an altitude of 1,200 meters up to 2,800 meters at the summit of L’Yret. Thanks to this high altitude and an efficient artificial snowmaking system, snow cover is guaranteed throughout the season. Forest skiing: A large part of the ski area winds through forests of centuries-old larch trees. This provides a magnificent setting and excellent visibility, even on days with challenging weather.

Fun zones

The area includes a progressive snowpark, boardercross zones, and the “Brut de Neige” area (black slopes that are secured but left in their natural state for powder enthusiasts).
